Tim Sun was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Lingnan Foundation in May 2025. Tim’s diverse career spans venture capital, private equity, technology, and nonprofit services, equipping him with a broad, results-driven skill set. Within the venture capital and private equity sectors, he provides consulting, advisory, and investment services to early-stage and growth-stage companies—supporting them with fundraising, strategic planning, and capital strategy to help them scale effectively and achieve successful IPOs. Before this, Tim held roles at several technology startups and multinational corporations, including serving as Senior Software Engineer at Danaher and as Principal Software Engineer and Project Manager at Nokia. In addition to his professional pursuits, Tim is deeply committed to community and nonprofit service. He currently serves as President of an entrepreneurs’ club and as a Board Director and Vice President of an education foundation that is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. He previously served as President of the SYSU Alumni Association of Southern California and a registered 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. His dedication to the Lingnan motto, “Education for Service,” is reflected in his lifelong commitment to education, mentorship, and public service. Tim holds a bachelor's degree from Sun Yat-sen University and a Master of Science degree from Duke University. He is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
