Description: Yuchao Xu was a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Public Administration at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China, when he joined the W.T.Chan Fellows Program. He is a warm-hearted individual who strives to provide access to education throughout the local communities around him. As an initiator and volunteer of "Close to She," he actively took actions to preserve the culture and traditions of She nationality within China. His experiences as a campus assistant in Teach for China@SYSU have prepared him as a future educator in generating positive influences to society. As a member of the Lingnan W.T. Chan Fellows Program, he wishes to expand his knowledge on active communication methods with local communities and effective social strategies implemented by different NGOs within the U.S. From 2020 to 2022, Yuchao will pursue his master's degree in International Affairs in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, under the Hinrich Foundation full-tuition scholarship. He is always grateful for the rewarding journey with other Lingnan W.T. Chan Fellows and the generous support from Lingnan Foundation and Alumni: "It is the W.T.Chan Fellow Program that makes me become the one with more curiosity, humility, and sympathy."
