Description: Panpan Tang is a fifth-year joint Bachelor-Doctoral student studying Clinical Medicine at at the Zhongshan School of Medicine at the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China. Her experience growing up in a rural town in the GuiZhou province of China gave her first hand exposure to gender inequality surrounding education, domestic life, economic opportunity, and violence. Panpan’s lived experiences cultivated her passion to become a doctor and advocate for societal gender equity. Previously, Panpan conducted gender educational courses for NGOs and developed series of special courses for teaches, parents, and children around sexuality education. During her time in the United States, Panpan hopes to gain deeper insights around social issues she’s passionate about as well as tools to better equip her to be a wiser change-maker in the future.
