Year: 2021
US Campus Assignment: UC Berkeley
University: LUHK
Description: Anson Yu is a penultimate year student at Lingnan University majoring in Translation and minoring in Human Resource Management. She is a passionate volunteer entering her eighth year in the big family of community services. She has always felt that volunteer work is a directional activity, not only letting her give a helping hand to the needy in society, but also gain personal satisfaction upon witnessing the force for good her actions play in the roles of individual lives and the community at large. Anson uses this unique feeling to motivate her active engagement in volunteer work.  A quote from Roy T. Bennett serves as her life motto: “You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone”. She embodies this by pushing her limits and trying different kinds of activities, viewing each new experience as an opportunity to learn and accumulate experiences for the future. Through WT. Chan Fellowship program, she hopes to gain new insights and perspectives into the culture of volunteer work by direct experience and exchange of ideas with new people.
